Appleseed’s Volunteer Board

Zyan Miller

President

Miller works for Wabash Valley Power Alliance as an Economic Development Relations Specialist. Her prior experience includes Jasper County Economic Development and Jasper County REMC. Zyan was drawn to serve on the Appleseed board after looking for licensed child care for her daughter and realized how important this organization is to local employers. Miller’s closest licensed child care option was in Remington which was not feasible since she lives and works in Rensselaer.

Adam Alson

Founder / Past President

Alson is a third-generation corn and soybean farmer. He holds an economics degree from the University of Chicago and was a bond trader for Bank of America before coming back to Rensselaer to run the family farm. As one of the founders of Appleseed, Adam believes investment in affordable, quality child care is essential to the future growth and prosperity for Rensselaer and communities like it.

Kim Denton

Secretary

Denton is a Branch Director at Valley Oaks Health which specializes in mental health and addiction care. Kim has worked with children during her career and volunteering on the Appleseed board is one more way for her to continue caring for children in our community.

Dr. Megan Inskeep (DVM)

Vice-President

Inskeep is a Veterinarian and has worked for Kansas City based Merck Animal Health-Swine Business Division for eight years after having spent five years with Rensselaer Swine Services. Megan joined the Appleseed board in 2021 after trying to find child care for her three young children. She has become more aware of the importance of this child care service but what’s important to her is that Appletree’s children are shown love, educated, and set up to be successful contributors to our community.

Lisa Jackson

Board Member

Jackson has been a Speech Language Pathologist at Franciscan Health Rensselaer for almost nine years and served at our county hospital in the same position for over 20 years. She and her family are dedicated to providing jobs and opportunities in Rensselaer and caring for the people who live here.

Patti Lindahl

Treasurer

Lindahl retired from Jasper County REMC as Manager of Finance and Administrative Services after 21 years of service. She was responsible for the accounting and finance departments of the cooperative. As someone who has interviewed and hired many local employees, she believes that early childhood education is vital to attract and retain young families, like her own, to employ in our community.
